Occupational Summary

Assist in the planning, implementation and coordination of activities related to alumni reunions, homecoming and other on-campus events to attract alumni to campus and provide opportunities for renewed contact with Duke.

Work Performed
  • Assist the Assistant Director, Class Activities in promoting on-campus activities and programs by planning, implementing and coordinating activities related to assigned undergraduate class reunions to include recruiting and training volunteers, conducting workshops, meeting with alumni committees to assist in planning functions, and providing liaison between reunion volunteers and various University departments; supervise logistical arrangements of reunion events; coordinate mailings and registration for assigned activities.
  • Plan and implement activities for assigned alumni special group reunions such as fraternities and sororities, other living groups and literary or interest groups; provide assistance as necessary to coordinate related events.
  • Assist in the planning, implementation and coordination of Homecoming activities, events and programs; prepare related communications.
  • Research assigned projects and prepare related reports and analyses setting forth progress, adverse trends, and appropriate recommendations and/or conclusions.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level
Education/Training: Work requires communications, analytical and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a Bachelor's degree.
Experience: Work requires one year of experience in alumni affairs, public relations, marketing, student activities, program administration or a related field to become familiar with activities involved in planning and coordinating special events. OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE.
