Job Summary:

Reporting to the College CEO/President, and serving as an integral member of the Cabinet, the Vice President of Community and College Relations (VPCCR) is responsible for the leadership and development of Aims Community College's outreach strategies, foundation, government affairs, marketing, public relations, event planning, and student recruiting. In addition, the VPCCR supervises the three Campus Directors for Ft. Lupton, Loveland and Windsor to provide greater community contact and involvement. The VPCCR develops and manages an integrated strategic outreach and communications plan - acting as Public Information Officer as needed, providing leadership for activities that promote, enhance, and protect the college's brand reputation. The VPCCR is responsible for the leadership, development, integration, and implementation of a broad range of outreach, recruiting and public relations activities relative to the strategic direction and positioning of the college and its leadership. The VPCCR is responsible for the advancement of the College's position with relevant constituents including but not limited to local, state and federal policy-makers, current and perspective students, employees, as well as to drive broader awareness and donor support for the College. The VPCCR will travel frequently, in-state and out-of-state for example, government affairs, foundation and campus meetings.

Duties, Roles & Responsibilities:
Vision, Strategy, and Leadership

1. Provide system-wide strategy for and structure to relationship building on behalf of College to expand external partnerships, fundraising opportunities, and relationship building.
2. Identify emerging opportunities for the College; work with Cabinet, Campus Directors, and CCR staff to recognize internal and external strategies; and, define and execute appropriate messaging and activities to support them.
3. Develop and implement an integrated strategic communication and outreach plan to advance Aims' brand identity, drive enrollment, support legislative and citizen informational needs, broaden awareness of its programs and priorities, and increase the visibility of its programs across key stakeholder audiences.
4. Work closely with Cabinet peers to create strategic enrollment and student recruitment strategies.
5. Create strategies that will allow Aims Community College and Foundation leadership to cultivate and enhance meaningful relationships with targeted, high-level external audiences, including the media and key stakeholders, corporate and government partners.
6. Attend events and activities to broaden relationship building and promote the College.
7. Familiarity with emergency preparedness and responsibilities of a Public Information Officer.
8. Work closely with the CEO/President and Foundation Board in all phases of the College's advancement activities and serve as the College representative on the Aims Foundation Board.

Team Development/Management
9. Mentor and develop the CCR staff team into a comprehensive outreach unit: supporting each department function with common marketing collateral, planning calendar, etc.
10. Work closely with Campus Directors to insure comprehensive and consistent outreach throughout service area.
11. Oversee the day-to-day operation of the College and Community Relations Division including budgeting, planning, goal attainment, and staff development.
12. Establish and monitor staff performance and development goals, establish expectations and objectives, establish priorities, and conduct annual performance appraisals.

Government Affairs/Outreach
13. Maintain state and federal legislative information, bill status, and governmental affairs events calendar.
14. Plan and participate in public outreach activities related to governmental relations issues at local, state and federal levels, including serving in and/or leading collaborative efforts for legislative programs, civic engagement or other projects related to the College mission.
15. Serve as liaison between College and governmental agencies and lobbying teams.
16. Attend regular and special sessions of the Colorado Legislature on behalf of the College, keeps CEO/President advised of new and pending legislation that may affect the College, and participate in developing legislative action plans with the CEO/President.
17. Provide research and background for legislative issue development and for committee testimony for the CEO/President and Board of Trustees as directed.
18. Provide periodic reports to the CEO/President on legislative issues to disseminate to Board of Trustees and College staff.
19. Disseminate information on legislative issues to Cabinet through a variety of communication means and develops, directs and presents legislative training workshops within the College.
20. Performs other duties as assigned by the CEO/President.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a part/full-time basis and hold a valid driver's license.

1. Master's degree and minimum five years experience in an executive management role related to the duties, roles and responsibilities outlined in this Profile.
2. Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal and presentation skills and the ability to effectively interface with Cabinet, Foundation Board, Board of Trustees, policy-makers and community leaders
3. Demonstrated experience and leadership in managing comprehensive strategic marketing and communications, media relations, and recruiting programs to advance an organization's mission and goals.
4. Government Affairs experience.
5. Demonstrated skill and comfort in proactively building relationships with top tier partners, and successfully positioning College to achieve national recognition with a track record for translating strategic thinking into action plans and output.


Preferred Qualifications

1. Earned doctorate in related field.
2. Community College experience.
3. Friend and fundraising experience.
4. Experience with non-profit organizations and/or boards.
