At Stony Brook Medicine, our TH Sterile Supply Technicians are valuable members of our team. Teaching Hospital Sterile Supply Technicians perform tasks related to cleaning, sterilization, maintenance, repair, storage, inventory, and delivery of instrumentation, medical supplies and equipment to an operating room or clinic.
Duties of a TH Sterile Supply Technician in Ambulatory Surgery Storeroom may include the following but are not limited to:
- Maintains general stock areas.
- Breaks down pallets of supplies and places in appropriate location in storeroom.
- Order medical gases as needed and change tanks on video towers.
- Order daily linen supply and scrubs; monitor parr levels and adjust as needed.
- Stocks linen carts.
- Order and receive daily bulk supply; unpack and stock storeroom; stock pick for AM and PM.
- Check stock items for expiration dates, monitor and return recalled items.
- Monitor consignment breast implants; receive and track for appropriate patients.
- Works with Nursing Materials Management Coordinator to keep scrub machine stocked and working properly.
- Pick up trays from Central Supply in morning as needed.
- Log implants for orthopedic service and transport graft to hospital operating room with dry ice and monitor temp in subzero freezer on daily log sheet.
- Conducts biweekly inventory for all items/supplies in the store room.
- Identify items to be reordered in a timely fashion and forwards to instructional support assistant.
- Logs receipts in inventory management system.
- Monitors Lawson system for new blanket orders and revisions of current orders.
Required Qualifications: Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
Preferred Qualifications: High School Diploma. Ability to perform medium to heavy physical labor. Ability to physically travel long distances while exposed to outside elements. Experience with Lawson application. Previous experience working in a hospital setting, and/or with the patient population. Possess excellent interpersonal skills, communication skills, and the ability to work with all levels of the organization. Attention to detail and excellent organization skills.
