Requisition Title: Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream - Contractually Limited Term Appointment (CLTA) - Social Advocacy Equity Studies - 1801153

New College in the Faculty of Arts and Science at the University of Toronto invites applications for a two-year Contractually-Limited appointment in the field of Social Advocacy Equity Studies, at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream. This appointment will begin July 1, 2018 and end June 30, 2020.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach large and small foundational courses in Equity Studies and specialized courses in Social Advocacy with a particular focus on youth activism. This position will strengthen the Youth, Activism and Community (YAC) initiative in Equity Studies.

The successful candidate will display a strong commitment to and experience with Social Justice Advocacy.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in Equity Studies, Social Justice Education, or a related field at the time of application or shortly thereafter. Candidates must have teaching experience displaying a deep knowledge of social justice scholarship and practice, experience teaching in a degree granting program, a record of excellence in teaching, experience in teaching-related activities such as curriculum development and a demonstrated commitment to innovative pedagogical practice and/or teaching-related scholarly activity. Evidence of excellence in teaching will be demonstrated by strong letters of reference reflecting on both excellent teaching and evidence of commitment to pedagogical innovation, and the teaching dossier (including a teaching statement, course syllabi, and teaching evaluations) submitted as part of the application.

Ethical engagement with Indigenous communities, organizations, and institutions and evidence of understanding the importance of consensus-building relationships would be an asset.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
