This position is located in the FSU Libraries in the Special Collections and Archives Division.
Provides information & reference services to to in-house and distance users - at the service desk, by phone, and/or emails. Manages general special collections email account, ensuring that there is a schedule of responders and that all research inquires are answered in a timely manner.
Assist in preservation and collections management projects. Processes archives and manuscripts collections. Assists in preservation assessment, rehousing projects, and rare book processing. Requires operation of University motor vehicle to transport collections.
Maintains reading room(s) desk calendars. Assists with Division projects including inventories, shifting materials, shelf reading, and transport of collections, and exhibits. Performs other duties as assigned to assist with the success of the Division.
Coordinates research, learning, and outreach metrics and statistics - manging statistical tools, creating reports, and gathering and submitting statistics to relevant committees and reporting groups. Representing Special Collections & Archives on the Libraries' statistics committee.
Assists in Division instruction sessions and outreach. Creates, updates, and maintains Division research guides. Provides instruction support through the creation and copying of materials and handouts Assists in web, social media, and marketing activities.
High school diploma and two years of experience or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to two years.
Ability to prioritize, organize and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously.
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Customer Service experience.
Ability to perform accurately in a detail oriented environment.
Ability to meet physical requirements as determined by position. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
A valid driver's license for University motor vehicle operation.
Bachelors degree in Humanities, History or Art History.
Experience in a library and/or museum setting.
Knowledge of the concepts, principles and practices of collections management to include proper handling, installation, preservation and/or maintenance.
Knowledge of University policy.
Anticipated Salary Range
This is an USPS (University Support Personnel System) position.
Criminal Background Check
This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check. The background check will be conducted as authorized and in accordance with University Policy 4-OP-C-7-B11.
