Assistant Professor of Rehabilitation Counseling

Job description



The Department of Early Childhood, Special Education, and Rehabilitation Counseling (EDSRC) in the College of Education at the University of Kentucky invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor position in the Rehabilitation Counseling program. The successful candidate will provide expertise and support to the residential and distance learning master's and doctoral level CACREP accredited master's and doctoral programs in Rehabilitation Counseling.

The successful candidate will have teaching, advising, research, and service responsibilities related to program, department, college, university, and field constituents. The appointment is a nine-month appointment, effective August 16, 2018. Summer teaching may be available and is optional.

Responsibilities include the following: Teach a two-two course load; engage with Rehabilitation Counseling faculty in program planning, course development, assist with measures for determining and evaluating student learning outcomes and dispositions; advise campus and distance learning students; develop a programmatic research agenda and prepare and submit applications for research and students; and provide service and engagement activities to the profession, department, college, and university.

Qualifications include an earned doctorate in Rehabilitation Counseling from a CACREP accredited doctoral Rehabilitation Counseling program; certification as a rehabilitation counselor; eligibility for counselor licensure in the Commonwealth of Kentucky; knowledge of CACREP accreditation procedures and experience in assessing and evaluating student dispositions and learning outcomes based on CACREP standards; experience as a rehabilitation counselor; a commitment to innovative educational practices; effective collaboration with partners in rehabilitation agencies, services, and programs; evidence of positively impacting client/consumer growth and achievement; and demonstration of effective instructional practices. Preferred qualifications include experience in instructional technology, assistive technology, and/or supervision of practicum and internship students.
