Athletic Trainer I

Position Summary

The Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is looking for an Athletic Trainer I to develop, implement, evaluate and maintain comprehensive health care programs for student-athletes.

In this position, you will:

  • Evaluate injuries in order to design and execute appropriate rehabilitation exercises 
  • Educate and counsel coaching staffs, athletes, physicians co-workers, students, parents, media, and consultants 
  • Maintain and implement comprehensive preventive physical conditioning programs for the student-athletes
  • Administer emergency care and makes medical referrals
  • Organize and maintain daily medical records, including daily treatment logs and prescription drug logs using a computerized sports injury management program
  • Ensure that University, NCAA, federal and state policies, procedures, and/or regulations are followed
  • Instruct and evaluate athletic training students
  • Complete other duties as assigned
Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing one or two years of post- bachelor degree work, such as a Masters in Physical Education with relevant coursework in athletic training; three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in all aspects of athletic training or an equivalent combination of education and experience; and certification by the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA).

Desired Qualifications

Division I collegiate experience as an athletic trainer.
