Nature of Work

This position provides university-wide budget and position management analysis support for assigned divisions of University Advancement, President, and Information Technology Services. Prepares facilities cost allocation distributed to auxiliary units on campus. Lead analyst for self-support budgets during budget prep and backup analyst for Board of Regents reporting. Serves as the budget office lead for all assigned areas to include budget development processes, budget amendments, expenditure transfers, position management documents, administrative systems, payroll reallocations, etc. Determine accuracy of coding in financial system. Assist with the preparation and review of financial reports and budget monitoring including the interpretation of financial statements and debt service pro-formas. Serves as the lead analyst for troubleshooting PeopleSoft budget issues; writing data queries and defining system parameters. Develop procedures, recommend policy updates, interpret university, state and federal guidelines, regulations, and statutes and ensure compliance. Provide assistance and training to departments for budget development, monitoring, reconciliation, and other processes. Serve on university committees and perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, or Information Systems; Minimum of 2 years work experience in budgeting, fiscal analysis, forecasting, and variance analysis; Ability to think critically and logically; Creative problem solver; Ability to work cooperatively with a diverse group of individuals in a cooperative, consensus-based environment; Knowledge of generally-accepted accounting principles and financial statement reviews. Expert knowledge in Microsoft Excel with ability to use complex functions and create integrated reporting templates.

Preferred Qualifications

Master degree in a business-related field. Experience working in a higher education budget or accounting office; Knowledge of People Soft financial systems.

Salary:   $65,000 annually

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

Ability to sit for long periods using a computer keyboard and mouse. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds. Leave time needs to be coordinated around position management reporting deadlines. Some Saturday work required.
