Women’s Head Basketball Coach (Professional Service Specialist 3)


Under the direction of the Director of Athletics; will coordinate coaching and overall organization and administration of the Women's Basketball Program. Additionally; the Head Women's Basketball Coach/Athletic Residence Life Liaison will serve as an athletic residence life liaison for all athletic housing issues.


New Jersey City University, a NCAA Division III member of the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC), and the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC), is accepting applications for a goal oriented Women’s Head Basketball Coach reporting to the Director of Athletics.

The responsibilities of the successful candidate will include, but are not limited to: organization, administration and coaching of the Women’s basketball program including supervising staff while displaying a clearly defined philosophy of coaching and teaching basketball; recruiting qualified student-athletes; and managing the budget responsibly. The Women’s Head Basketball coach serves as Athletic Residence Life Liaison for the department.


The successful candidate will work with the Athletic Director to schedule contests and practices; be committed to player development both in strength and skill; scout opponents and prepare team accordingly; be dedicated to University and NCAA, ECAC, and NJAC rules and regulations and all other aspects of directing a quality intercollegiate Women’s basketball program. The candidate must have working knowledge of NCAA rules and compliance, as well as, effective communication, leadership skills, and proven ability to positively interact with, campus community, alumni and athletics department.

In addition to directing the Women’s basketball program, the coach will conduct on-campus basketball camps and/or clinics.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and a valid driver’s license required upon hire, and a minimum three years head coaching or assistant coaching experience on the collegiate level and/or secondary school levels. Experience with athletic residence life coordination at a college or university level strongly preferred.
