Summary of Duties:
This position is responsible for researching and writing stories, articles and informational content for a variety of media channels about Washington State University Global Campus degree programs and its students, faculty, alumni, and staff for the purpose of increasing brand awareness, growing degree program enrollments and contributing to retention efforts. The successful candidate will also provide writing and editing support for Academic Outreach & Innovation (parent of Global Campus) as assigned.
The successful candidate will demonstrate attention to detail, accuracy, and relevance in their writing, and be competent in a deadline driven environment. He or she must be adaptable to various styles and formats appropriate to individual projects and audiences and experienced in writing for a variety of print and electronic media. Additionally, the successful candidate will work with WSU College and academic department communication staff to coordinate and leverage story ideas and placement.
This position requires well-developed critical thinking skills and the ability to clearly and succinctly synthesize information into stories in an engaging and persuasive manner. The successful candidate will interact with senior leadership, deans, chairs, faculty, students, and alumni, most commonly in interviews that serve as a basis for stories and inquiries related to marketing and retention efforts.
A flexible schedule is required. Assignments will include occasional evening and weekend events, as well as off campus interviews that may require travel.

Required Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, marketing or other relevant field AND two (2) years of professional experience in print OR broadcast news media, public relations, marketing including the use of electronic media or two (2) years of other relevant professional experience.
