Assistant Coach - Football
Nature of Work
The University of West Georgia (UWG) Assistant Football Coach reports to the Football Head Coach. UWG is at the NCAA Division II level in the Gulf South Conference. The Assistant Football Coach provides support to the student athletes both academically and athletically and is expected to represent UWG in a professional manner that aligns with the University of West Georgia strategy & culture.
The Football Head Coach will assign the position coaching duties. This assistant coach will recruit student athletes in an assigned area of Georgia and surrounding states.
Bachelor’s degree. Must have strong knowledge of the sport of football, both offense and defense. Ability to teach and motivate student athletes and develop a specific team position in a way that will benefit the team as a whole. Ability to establish a rapport with high school coaches in order to build an effective recruiting base.
Must be energetic, professional and committed to improving the UWG Football program.
Ability to promote a positive environment that allows the student athletes to succeed academically, athletically and in the community. Knowledge of Football rules and skills. Ability to instruct student athletes in skills and safety. Ability to recruit talented student athletes. Knowledge of NCAA recruiting guidelines.
Masters Degree; College and/or Professional coaching experience; High school and/or college playing experience.
Salary $45,540/yr (minimum) - $$58,682/yr (midpoint) Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
Candidates must be physically able to teach/instruct student athletes and perform other physical duties in both hot and cold temperatures. The position requires working early mornings, nights and weekends. Must be able to travel for recruitment and off-campus games, including out of state. Frequent travel for recruiting trips.
