FT Professional Support - Lead Accounting Specialist - Grants

Job description

Serves as the primary contact of the Grants Office. Collaborates with the Controller in gathering financial and program data from Grant Customers (Principal Investigators), External Affairs, and support staff as well to maintain continuity of grant processes and procedures.  Interacts with internal and external customers.   Monitors and manages all restricted purpose funds for financial reporting and compliance.  Prepares schedules and oversees both internal and external grant audits.  The Lead Grants Specialist must be able to work independently, assist in the direction of the Grants Specialist work, have the ability to complete analysis, identify necessary correcting entries, identify areas for improvement or process changes in all areas related to restricted fund accounting.  The Lead Grants Specialist will have advanced knowledge of the compliance requirements related to grants and contracts from federal, state, local, and private sources and assisting to ensure the College is in full compliance.

Required:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Resource Development or related field or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience
• Previous demonstrated experience with spreadsheet, database management, and financial report writing skills training or experience and intermediate word processing skills 
• Previous related work experience 
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Prior experience working with grants
• Prior experience managing databases

Preferred:

• Five years related work experience preferred
• Prior experience directing the work of others
