LABORATORY COMPUTER PROGRAMMER II
Neurobiology

Candidate should have a BS or MS in science and/or engineering to work in our systems neurobiology laboratory. We study how neuronal circuits process sensory information and coordinate motor outputs using in vivo imaging, electrophysiology, and behavioral approaches. Your job would be to optimize and maintain the current code-base and hardware to ensure smooth functioning of these systems. You will also work closely with graduate students and postdoctoral fellows to troubleshoot experimental problems, innovate new designs, and analyze datasets. The ideal applicant would have a strong background in programming (ideally a language relevant to the ones we use: MATLAB and Python)as well as familiarity with electrical engineering (basic understanding of I/O devices, transistors, op-amps, digital logic, how to use an oscilloscope, etc). Responsibilities/Duties in order of importance:
1. Improving/generating code for behavioral control -- 35%
2. Improving/building hardware for behavioral control -- 25%
3. Discussing projects and progress with lab members -- 15%
4. Improving/generating code for data analysis -- 15%
5. Reading literature to learn about approaches used in the field -- 10%

Education

Work requires college training equivalent to non-technical Bachelor's degree or Associate's degree in mathematics or computer science or equivalent technical training.
