Advertised Job Summary
Prepare uranium and other compound samples for instrumental analysis using standard powder techniques using a glovebox -40% as needed. Perform experimental measurements and CALPHAD – type calculations of thermochemical/thermophysical properties of systems of interest -30%. Manage research laboratory activity and assist graduate students – 10%. Prepare manuscripts for presentation and publication in professional journal and research reports -10%. Prepare and assist in the preparation of research proposals and Conduct literature searches for technical information – 10%.Required Education and Experience
Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering or other closely related discipline with experience in materials preparation, analysis, and modeling.Preferred Qualifications Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
A background in ceramic and/or metallic materials processing, and an understanding of means for assessing thermochemistry and phase equilibria. Experimental experience with thermochemical or thermophysical measurements is also valuable.
