The Research Associate will understand and interpret research protocols and procedures. The Research Associate will work under the direction of a principal investigator, program director, or designee of the principal investigator or program director, such as a Research Associate 2 or above.Primary duties and responsibilities: Support research activities in the Mucosal & Microbiome lab
Sampling processing – human and non-human primate blood, lymphoid, liver and mucosal tissues
Independently perform lab techniques as needed (flow cytometry, ELISA, etc.). Perform analysis of data and assist with trouble shooting and daily quality control of data, and present in lab meetings
Keep detailed records of procedures performed. Provide status reports to the Principal Investigator on status of projects and spending. Basic lab maintenance and helping with lab paperwork and certifications. Attention to procedural detail and meticulous record-keeping. Training of techniques and safety procedures to lab members. Maintain updated knowledge base of lab related studies via reading scientific articles and attending seminars and journal clubs, training classes and meetings. Perform related duties as required.


Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in biomedical sciences (i.e. biology, microbiology, immunology, or virology), MS or PhD in biomedical sciences preferred. Expertise and >2 years of experience in laboratory biomedical research preferred. Expertise and background in immunology, microbiology or molecular biology desired. Training in flow cytometry, PCR, ELISA, high throughput sequencing, bioinformatics, tissue processing preferred. Experience in mucosal immunology and non-human primate or human mucosal tissue processing and research preferred. Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience and/or certifications may be considered.

Patient safety is a top priority.
