Position Description
The Operations Manager has oversight of the day to day operations of parking operations. Supervises various Parking and Transportation Services staff, and provides a high degree of customer service for the various facets of the operation. Directly oversees and manages the front office, Visitor Information Center (VIC), the citation processing unit, and special events. Duties include direct supervision of staff including recruitment, professional development, performance management and corrective action. Works with Parking Enforcement, Campus Event Management, Facilities Management, and other campus departments to ensure appropriate availability and use of campus parking resources. Acts as a back up to the Director of Parking and Transportation Services.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Demonstrated knowledge of principles for providing excellent customer service. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, evaluation of customer satisfaction and recommendations for process improvements. Ability to see the "big picture" and act accordingly as a member of the Parking and Transportation Services management team. Demonstrated ability to provide operations oversight for a highly visible department consisting of multiple business units and discrete processes. Demonstrated ability to supervise union represented staff and provide appropriate direction and guidance using a hands-on approach. Proven ability to conceptualize and implement enterprise level computer systems with the ability to learn and provide functional oversight for all related systems within the department. Excellent ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing to a diverse array of faculty, staff, students, and community members. Ability to proactively identify complex problems and evaluates related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions. Ability to follow campus, division, and department processes, policies and procedures, and to comply will all state and federally regulated requirements. Ability to assign work to subordinate staff and ensure tasks are completed accurately, on time and within specified parameters. Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects in a fast paced environment and ensure that applicable deadlines are met.

Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."

Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in business management or a related field and three years of related management experience required. Five years of related progressively responsible experience preferred. Experience working in a collective bargaining environment and supervising bargaining unit employees preferred.

Licenses / Certificates
CA Driver's License, Class C
