Position Summary: The Associate Dean for Study Abroad and International Exchanges is responsible for coordinating the College of Arts and Sciences' global education opportunities and joint degree programs with universities abroad. The position has an important strategic portfolio: designing and implementing diverse, off-campus programming and international opportunities for undergraduate students, graduate students and faculty; advising on the integration of study abroad in College undergraduate and graduate curricula; and representing, on request, the Chief International Officer in local, national and international meetings and events. In addition, the Associate Dean has significant operational responsibilities: coordinating critical management tasks with deputy director, leading the Study Abroad Office by supervising, hiring and training professional and support staff; preparing and overseeing the annual budgets; facilitating international programming of other UNC-CH schools and units; serving as an academic liaison and advocate for Study Abroad with UNC-CH administration, administrative committees, faculty, staff and students. This position has authority to make admissions and financial aid decisions for the Office.

Education Requirements: MA required, Ph.D. preferred

Qualification and Experience: Minimum of five years professional experience in study abroad and international education with increasing responsibilities for planning, supervision and budgeting. Excellent communication skills with various university constituents. Occasional teaching opportunities for a candidate with the appropriate academic credentials.
