Department Overview
The University of North Texas Center for Human Identification (UNTCHI) is an accredited forensic laboratory located in Fort Worth, Texas providing forensic DNA services. UNTCHI was designated as a criminal justice agency in 2011. The Center integrates the efforts of the following units: Forensic, Missing Persons, CODIS, NamUs and Anthropology. These units provide quality service through accurate DNA testing and investigative support to law enforcement, medico legal entities throughout the State of Texas and the nation.

Position Details
The Center for Human Identification Department at the University of North Texas Health Science Center is seeking to hire an Evidence Custodian to join our team. Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:

* Responsible for accessioning evidentiary items into the laboratory information system database.
* Responsible for safe storage, security, chain-of custody, accountability, and disposition of all evidentiary and custodial property.
* Possess good communication skills in providing guidance and customer service to agencies.
* Maintain and inventory supplies.
* Maintain and organize evidence inventory.
* Coordinate delivery and return of evidence.
* Provide collection kits and submission forms to agencies.
* Log temperatures of evidence storage locations.
* Filing and recovery of case files.
* Testify in court if required.

Required Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess the following required qualifications:

High school diploma or GED and three (3) years of experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess the following required qualifications:

* Evidence management experience.
* Forensic or clinical lab administrative experience preferred.
* Forensic or clinical lab sample accessioning experience preferred.
* Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Access) - essential for evidence accessioning.
* Team Player.
* Excellent customer service and communication skills (oral and written).
* Able to multitask.
* Time management and organizational skills.
* Accurate, detailed, accountable.
* Able to maintain confidentiality.
* Self-motivated and able to work independently.
