The College of Nursing, University of South Carolina, is seeking a qualified candidate eligible for the rank of Clinical Assistant or Clinical Associate Professor to fill a full-time academic teaching position. The faculty member would provide didactic and/or clinical instruction and mentoring of undergraduate nursing students in mental health nursing courses and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) students in advanced practice nursing courses. In addition to teaching, the position includes opportunities for clinical practice and research/scholarship activities. Faculty appointment and salary are commensurate with the level of advanced practice clinical practice, teaching, and scholarship experience of the candidate.
We are looking for a candidate who has knowledge or experience teaching psychiatric mental health curricula with the application of innovative classroom delivery, simulation methodologies and scholarship application. The candidate should have a demonstrated commitment to the professional development of nursing students, clinical practice, and professional service.Required Education and Experience
Earned doctorate in nursing (PhD or DNP); two years of teaching and mentoring NP students, unencumbered nursing licensure. National Certification as a PMHNP (PMHNP across the lifespan is preferred) and two years of direct practice as an APRN with Prescriptive Authority or eligibility in SC. Excellent written and oral communication skills, team building, self-motivation and innovation in educationl program offerings are expected. Basic Life Support (BLS) documentation is required.Preferred Qualifications
