The Team Manager supports the research mission of the University of Miami and the goals of the Office of Research Administration. The Manager is an integral partner in submitting proposals to extramural sponsors for research, clinical trials, training, instructional and other sponsored activities and is involved in the creating, reviewing and analyzing of complex sponsored project. The Manager is part of the sponsored programs administration team that will manage service and provide guidance and direction to specific UM/RSMAS departments, and Centers/Institutes on all pre-award and post-award administration functions from the proposal submission to after awards are created and award close-out. Works closely in a team environment to assure compliance with sponsor requirements while providing excellent service to principle investigators, researchers and administrators.
Assists the Associate Director in overseeing all elements of pre-award and post-award activity including proposal preparation/submission and responsibility for the fiscal administration of all contracts and grants awarded by federal, state, and other sponsors for the UM/RSMAS departments.
Responsible for proposal preparation and timely submissions, expenditure projections including salary allocations, monitoring and approving grant budget and expense activities; including financial & non financial reporting, award close outs and final reporting to sponsors.
Responsible for the monitoring of effort certification for all UM/RSMAS faculty and staff paid on research grants.
Monitors internal monitoring reports monthly to ensure compliance with federal guidelines.
Responsible for overseeing and leading a team. including hiring, scheduling supervising, evaluating and disciplining.
Monitors team performance relative to accuracy, timeliness, customer service and other related metrics. Serves as the liaison between the faculty, academic departments and research centers, campus administrative units and a wide variety of federal, state, local and private funding agencies, ensures compliance with university, federal, state, and other agency regulations, policies, procedures, form and guidelines for the conduct of research.
Ensures high quality, efficient service to the research community, and provides assistance to Associate Director in the planning and implementation of innovative customer service initiatives.
Assist to resolve conflicts between Principal Investigators (PIs) and team members quickly and satisfactorily.
Assists the Associate Director with developing and implementing internal operating procedures and with development, modification, and instruction of research administration training for faculty and staff.
Maintains knowledge of current federal issues relating to grants and single audits of state, local government and non-profit organizations; interprets OMB (Office of Management and Budget) circulars for other agreements.
