Accounting Information System Specialist

General Summary

This position is responsible for the development and analysis of financial reports, accounting databases, accounting activities and fixed asset related functions. This position will also provide expertise in forwarding the continuous improvement of the Financial Services Operation.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Responsible for creating ad hoc databases in Accounting for financial analysis and reporting

Monitor, analyze and verify data to ensure data integrity and validity

Responsible for preparing and developing various financial reports, year end financial statements, HEIDI, CAFR, and IPEDS

Evaluate and document current and desired business processes.

Responsible for the analysis of all fund activity.

Maintenance of all automated accounting systems.

Evaluate present accounting and operational systems and recommend changes.

Perform year-end closing and preparation of audit schedules.

Provide Banner functional, and technical assistance for Departments reporting to the Controller.

Assist with the ongoing review, maintenance, and revision of department policy and procedure manuals.

Perform related Departmental duties as required.Qualifications

Bachelors in Accounting, Accounting Information Systems, Finance or other related field is required.

Two years of experience utilizing Information Systems related to Accounting is desired.

Demonstrated experience in Microsoft Access reporting is a plus.

Knowledge of Spreadsheet Server software is a plus.

Experience working with ODBC and ad hoc databases is desired.

Knowledge of accounting principles and procedures (GAAP) required.

Four years experience in professional accounting is necessary.

Demonstrated experience in Microsoft Excel is necessary

Experience in Crystal and/or SQL is a plus.

Knowledge of GASB principles is desired.

Knowledge of Ellucian Banner system is a plus.
