The Morgridge College of Education (MCE) at the University of Denver invites applications for a tenure-track position in the Teaching and Learning Sciences (TLS) Department at the rank of Associate Professor or Full Professor. This position is dedicated to applied research and dissemination of knowledge in the area of K-12 special education. This successful candidate will also provide leadership to TLS faculty, students, and serve as chair of the department.

Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The appointment will commence on September 1, 2018.

Position Summary

This position is a 9-month faculty appointment. It is expected that the successful candidate will conduct and publish research in his or her discipline, and pursue external funding. Tenure-track faculty are expected to teach 18-21 credit hours over the academic year (usually 6 courses, 2 each per fall, winter, and spring quarter), supervise graduate students and doctoral dissertations, and provide institutional and community service. MCEs vision to be a force for positive change is aligned with our institutions broader vision to be a, great private university dedicated to the public good.

It is expected that the successful candidate will promote the University's vision and the College's mission through meaningful scholarship, teaching, and service activities.

Required Qualifications

  • Earned doctorate in an area related to special education.
  • Earned tenure at a prior institution and shows promise for meeting the MCE tenure criteria.
  • Experience working with a P-12 institution, school, community or informal educational setting.
  • Active research agenda, focused on applied research and dissemination of knowledge in the area of K-12 special education.
  • Established record of procuring external funding.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading an academic unit (department chair, etc.).
  • Established record of mentoring and providing funding for graduate students.
