Job Description:
SUNY Delhi seeks a dynamic, forward thinking and engaging Anthropology Faculty member to join the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences starting in the Fall of 2018. The position is a full-time, tenure-track position at the level of Assistant Professor of Anthropology in the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Expected teaching load of introductory anthropology courses with online upper level courses for program development in mind. Specialty area in anthropology is open due to the interdisciplinary nature of the division. The successful candidate will be creative, enthusiastic, engaging students for lifelong learning. This position requires performance of college service including advising, committee work, and college events. Teaching is the primary focus of this position, but support and opportunities exist for research and scholarship, and for developing research programs that include undergraduate students.

Program Development

  • Participate in annual systematic assessment of program
  • Participate in analyzing data and develop curriculum and program revisions where and when necessary

Teaching Responsibilities

  • Provide evidence-based instruction in accordance with the policies set forth by the College
  • Post and keep regular office hours for the convenience of students
  • Participate in the assessment of course, student learning, and program outcomes
  • Incorporate student service learning opportunities


  • Assist in advisement of students
  • Guide and counsel students toward personal and career development
  • Track student's completion of degree requirements

Academic & Organization Service

  • Mentor Adjunct Faculty
  • Special Projects
  • Participate in faculty meetings
  • Participate in accreditation reviews and reports
  • Engage in the academic and organizational life of the college Pursue scholarly interests

  • Ph.D. in Anthropology
  • ABDs anticipating an earned degree by December 2018 considered

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience teaching anthropology courses at the college level
  • Ability to engage in scholarly activities
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to teach diverse populations
  • Understanding the value of civic engagement

Additional Information:

  • Salary $50,000 - $52,000
  • This is a 10 month academic year, tenure track position
