The Department of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences in the Milken Institute School of Public Health at The George Washington University is recruiting a Visiting Assistant Professor (two-year appointment, with second year appointment contingent on first year review).
The Milken Institute School of Public Health has a diverse and growing faculty, with a $90 million research portfolio. As the only school of public health in the nation's capital, faculty and students have a unique opportunity to work closely with government agencies such as the National Institutes of Health, the US Department of Agriculture and the Food and Drug Administration, as well as the numerous non-governmental organizations that are headquartered in DC.Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
Primary responsibilities for this position will be teaching and mentoring undergraduate students in the new Bachelor of Science in Nutrition Science Program (starting fall 2018). In addition, the candidate will also be expected to contribute to teaching in the Masters of Public Health in Public Health Nutrition program and in the Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science program Specific teaching responsibilities include coursework in: introductory nutrition, nutritional biochemistry, nutrition assessment, nutrition across the lifecycle, nutrition and chronic disease, nutrition science research methods, as well as senior capstone projects. The ideal candidate will have a well-rounded background in nutrition science allowing for versatility in meeting the needs of a new degree program within a rapidly evolving discipline.Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must have: 1) an earned doctorate in nutrition science or related field; 2) at least one year of experience post-PhD involving nutrition-related work or conducting nutrition-related research; 3) undergraduate and/or graduate teaching experience in nutrition science; and, 4) relevant publications in peer-reviewed journals.Advertised Salary: Salary will be commensurate with experience.
