Primary Function of Organization Unit: The Department of Forest Biomaterials is part of NC State University's College of Natural Resources and offers comprehensive undergraduate and graduate programs in Sustainable Materials and Technology, and in Paper Science and Engineering. Our activities include teaching, research, extension programming, continuing education, and technical services that benefit the paper and pulp, wood products, housing, biomaterials, and bioenergy industries.
Essential Job Duties: The appointee will be expected to assume a leadership role at NCSU in developing new directions in sustainable industrial/product design. In addition to the research/creative agenda described above, the appointee will teach in the undergraduate and graduate programs, and collaboratively participate in the activities, service, and life of the department as well as with other disciplines at the university level, and will establish meaningful connections to broader academic, professional, commercial and/or public communities.
Minimum Education/Experience: Ph. D. degree compatible with job duties.
Department Required Skills: Relevant educational background Sufficient professional background to teach undergraduate and graduate courses at the collegiate level in the area of sustainable materials and technology.
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: . 1-2 Years of experience teaching . Demonstrated experience working with industries that use sustainable materials for design. . Ability to obtain externally funded research projects. . History of innovation or entrepreneurship. . . Capable of creating a novel research program in the use of sustainable materials and technology for product design. . Excellent oral and written communication skills. . Capacity to design products using sustainable materials and technologies.
