Duties of a TH Instructional Support Assistant for the MART, Cancer Center may include the following but are not limited to:

  • Perform Phlebotomy on patients of all age groups and collections of other specimens.
  • Shift supervisor directing staff and activities.
  • Interacts in a professional manner with other supervisors and the hospital community to ensure proper collection and processing of laboratory specimens.
  • Performs workflow analysis and assists with development of staffing protocol according to operational needs.
  • Actively participates in regulatory inspections.
  • Must have knowledge of laboratory collection manager devises and Cerner patient management systems.
  • Knowledge of insurance providers, billing codes, order entry, results reporting, crediting functions and discharging per University Hospital policies and procedures to conform to regulatory agency mandates which include ICD-10CM billing codes, medical necessity, etc.
  • Will assist and provide patient services to include LSARD and outpatient registration processes.
  • All other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications: Phlebotomy Certification by a technical training program. Four years of Phlebotomy experience with at least two years of Pediatric Phlebotomy experience. Must have excellent customer service skills and customer service experience in a clinical healthcare setting. Computer competency with knowledge of laboratory and hospital information systems. Knowledge of insurance providers, billing codes, order entry, results reporting, crediting functions and discharging per University Hospital policies and procedures to conform to regulatory agency mandates which include ICD-10 CM billing codes, medical necessity, and medical terminology. Will assist and provide patient services to include LSARD and outpatient registration processing.


Preferred Qualifications: Associates degree in Clinical Laboratory Technology. Two years customer service experience in a clinical healthcare setting. In lieu of degree, four years of clinical laboratory experience to include a year of customer service experience in a clinical healthcare setting.

All Hospital positions are subject to changes in pass days and shifts as necessary. This position may require the wearing of respiratory protection, which may prohibit the wearing of facial hair.
