Department Overview
The three departments that constitute COI are unified in a reliance on emergent technologies as can be seen in the research conducted by each unit. Faculty in Learning Technology work to enhance learning for all populations including those with special education needs. Faculty in Information Science use technologies to create methods for mining, curating, aggregating, and analyzing information from both traditional and newer digital repositories. Faculty in Linguistics create new digital resources to improve natural language processing and machine translation.

Job Description
The COI Department at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire a Dept/College Communications Specialist to join our team. Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

* Develop a consistent, workable website that provides education/information online and that encourages engagement and achieves user needs.
* Create HTML, CSS, JavaScript and graphics for website in support of college campaigns. Create and edit online graphics using Adobe suite.
* Write and edit content for varying media and formats that represents the college to relevant constituents.
* Work with COI staff to gather information from COI students, alums, and faculty to create written, visual, video, and graphic content for print and online publication to broadcast COI success and clarify COI's mission and research goals.
* Support COI presence at recruiting and relevant university-wide events by creating and placing banner, posters, and other media.
* Keep up to date with university web policy and develop and maintain web serviced documentation. Support college-sponsored research events by advertising events, reserving venues, overseeing A/V setup and operations.
* Maintaining the COI YouTube channel, upload recordings to the UNT digital library.

Minimum Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor's Degree in related field and two years of experience in writing and/or editing publications; or any equivalent combination of experience, education, and training. The following knowledge, skills, and abilities are required:

* Ability to conceptualize, write and edit, accurate and concise content for university audiences.
* Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, conduct multiple tasks and maintain effective working relationships.
* Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
* Ability to visually inspect print and online copy when self-editing or editing the copy of others.
* Works effectively within a team and effectively works closely with other staff, faculty, and students toward a common goal.
* Knowledge of how to contact sources and ability to conduct interviews and take accurate notes.
* Knowledge of spelling, grammar, punctuation and Associated Press and Chicago Manual styles.
* Knowledge of writing guidelines for various media and ability to create unique copy for each format (print, online, broadcast).
* Understanding of institutional strategy (or ability to quickly assimilate) and ability to integrate the strategy into modes of communication.

Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:

* Degree in Journalism, English, or Communication.
* Skill in science communication, design, timeliness of carrying out functions.
