About the Position

Working under the general direction of the Executive Managing Director of the Hammer Theatre Center and in close coordination with Director of Operations, Technical Production Manager, Hammer employees and constituents, the Associate Production Manager is responsible for operational duties related to client and event services. This positon coordinates highly detailed programmatic and calendar aspects of the Hammer, including but not limited to: interfacing with on-campus and off-campus Hammer renters and users, Hammer Presents, as well as University units that connect with the Hammer; overseeing all aspects of calendaring and production for the Hammer. Works with EMD, meeting Hammer Presents needs such as coordinating travel, transportation, lodging, fiscal deliverables, and on-site hospitality of artists. Responsible for production crew calls, part-time employee administration, production documentation and processing. Helps plan and produce special events.

Education and Experience

Completion of a high school program, technical/vocational program, or their equivalents combined with three years of related office work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

-BA - BS related to disciplines in the performing arts
-Minimum of two (2) years of related experience in performing arts management, administration and/or production
-Experience with financial projections, contracts, relational databases and spreadsheet applications
-Experience in the supervision and training of staff and volunteers
-Experience working successfully in the performing arts

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

-Ability to effectively establish and maintain cooperative working relationships in a diverse, multicultural environment.
-Ability to apply a high level of judgement, discretion, and initiative in coordinating the Hammer Theatres activities with diplomacy and tact to large and diverse number of clients and users
-Knowledge of the principles and techniques of organization, administration and management, organizational structure, functions and activities of the performing arts and higher education.
-Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive communications.
-Ability to perform efficiently in a fast-paced, detail oriented environment, handle multiple work priorities, organize and plan multiple projects.
-Ability to be proactive, resourceful and efficient, with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
-Thorough knowledge of office practices and procedures; computers and software, including word processing, spreadsheets, calendaring, and databases such as PeopleSoft/Oracle.
-Thorough knowledge of, or ability to quickly learn, a wide variety of policies, procedures and software specific to the University.
-Knowledge and demonstrated ability of business math and event budgeting.
