About the Position

Under the direct supervision of the Director of Technology, and receiving work lead direction from the Operating Systems Analyst in the College of Humanities and the Arts, this position will provide technical support and training for students, faculty and staff within the Performing Arts programs within the College, for a broad range of academic computing and media-based systems.

This position will provide high quality on-going support to meet curricular and community programing productions by assisting faculty, staff and students with computing and systems, including but not limited to hardware/ equipment installation and repair, OS/application installation and maintenance, training, equipment distribution, facilities organization, lighting and sound support, website and event production support.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

-Responsible for hardware and software administration and upgrades for mixed platforms.
-Set up, calibrate, troubleshoot, repair and connect a wide range of computers, video and production equipment, classroom AV equipment, as well as basic audio and lighting systems.
-Coordinate and interact effectively with students, faculty, staff and vendors. -Provide expertise in software applications used in digital audio, lighting, photo and video and instruct others in the use of equipment and software.
-Equipment, Facilities Organization and Operating Systems & Software Maintenance.
-Organize and maintain the physical layout and function of workstations in all laboratories, studios, offices and smart classrooms. Maintain operating systems and applications.
-Remotely monitor systems for system and application updates, virus scans and intrusion detection.
-Organize and document processes, procedures, systems and integration tests.
-Support all campus and CSU initiatives from IT / Information Technology and the Provost's Office.
-Identify and fulfill customers' needs on a proactive basis, stay current with software versions and updates, learn new software platforms and applications, research emerging technologies and evaluate them for the need and benefits for each program.

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, educational technology, communications, or related fields, or similar certified coursework in applicable fields of study and three years of experience supporting information systems and technology.

Preferred Qualifications

-MS or MA degree in computer science or visual arts with technology emphasis
-Four years of paid experience providing computer and software technical support and training

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

-Expertise in software applications used in digital audio, lighting, photo and video.
-Ability to apply consultative skills to assess user needs and provide appropriate support.
-Ability to instruct others in the use of equipment and software.
-In-depth knowledge and understanding of Windows 7 and 10, and MacOS desktop operating systems.
-In-depth knowledge and understating of remote management and remote application deployment of Windows 7 and 10 and MacOS systems.
-Experience with creating package installers for MacOS and MSI / MSP installers for Windows.
-Experience with resolving technical issues with the operating systems and media-based applications.
-Ability and experience with creating and using scripts created with Python, PowerShell and Bash for systems management.
-Knowledge and experience with using and supporting computers in an Active Directory environment.
-Knowledge and experience with configuring and supporting computers using a Mobile Device Management / MDM server.
-Experience with using operating systems in a mixed environment using boot camp and virtualization software, VMware Fusion or Workstation.
-Experience with using and supporting remote management systems, such is Manage Software Center, Jamf or Bigfix.
-Experience with using and supporting systems with antivirus and malware software.
-Thorough knowledge and understanding of current software programs used in the various departments.
-Must have the skills to communicate effectively (orally and in writing) with faculty, staff, and students with varying levels of media equipment knowledge and understanding.
-Must possess good organizational and presentational skills for effective software training.
-Experience with supporting users with Content Management Systems (CMS) and blogs. Ideally: Wordpress, OU and Industrial Weapon.
-In depth knowledge and understanding of all current media applications (as well as the ability to learn future applications) that is used by students, faculty and staff within the Visual and Performing Arts departments in the College. This includes, and is not limited to the applications included in Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, Autodesk Maya, Autodesk Autocad, Substance Painter, nDo, Avid Media Composer, Avid Pro Tools, etc.
-Knowledge and experience supporting users with Microsoft Office applications, Adobe Acrobat and Google Apps.
-Knowledge and experience supporting users with printers, copiers and scanners.
-Ability to configure and resolve network connectivity issues with devices using wireless / WiFi and Ethernet connections.
-Ability to diagnose and resolve issues with AV systems, which includes audio mixer boards, video projectors and cinema projection system.
-Ability to document and record installation and configuration procedures using markdown language with git.
-Ability to move equipment weighting at most 30 lbs.
-Knowledge and experience with configuring, supporting and troubleshooting print spoolers and print quota systems.
-Ability to support, troubleshoot and configure Omnilocks.
