Assistant Director of Regional Advancement, DC Metro

Job description

The Assistant Director of Regional Advancement, DC Metro, is a member of the university’s regional and international advancement team and works closely with the Senior Director of Regional Advancement, DC Metro, as well as the entire DC Metro and Regional teams to create a culture of lifelong engagement and philanthropy among alumni, parents and friends.

The university is excited to be approaching its $1 billion goal in the Campaign for William & Mary For the Bold!  Funds raised in this campaign will ensure that William & Mary continues to do what it does best: educate and inspire students of great talent and promise and prepare them to lead lives of principled achievement. To that end, we aspire to:

  • Strengthen alumni engagement.
  • Achieve 40 percent alumni participation by 2020
  • Raise $1 billion.

The DC Metro team and the Assistant Director play a vital role in the campaign and securing private support for W&M.

The Assistant Director reports to the Senior Director of Regional Advancement, DC Metro, and is expected to develop a robust major gift portfolio in the region by the end of year two of their tenure, securing 20 or more gifts totaling $500,000 – $1 million annually. Performance goals for the Assistant Director include activity measures, e.g. the number of moves required to advance new major gift prospects and existing donors to next-level commitments, numbers of visits, correspondences, and number of prospects identified and qualified for major gift potential.

The Assistant Director has annually established aggressive personal goals to promote William & Mary and its campaign priorities, with the ultimate goal of securing and stewarding major and leadership gifts to the university. The Regional Advancement team achieves its goals by working in a highly collaborative fashion with faculty members, advancement officers of the schools and constituent units across campus, and with internal partners in the office of university advancement.
