The Department of Spanish, Italian and Portuguese at the University of Virginia seeks applications to fill one Lecturer position in Italian as Academic General Faculty (tenure-ineligible) to begin with the 2018-2019 academic year. Initial appointment would be one year with possibility of renewal based on satisfactory teaching performance, programmatic need, and evidence of professional development. The course load for a full-time position is three courses per semester with administrative service to the department.
Subject areas of particular need include, but are not limited to, teaching language and culture undergraduate courses in Italian.
Candidates must have a strong commitment to teaching. A minimum of two years of teaching experience at the college or university level in the U.S. is required. Native or near-native proficiency in Italian is required. A M.A. in Italian at the time of application is required.
