Position Summary: The UNC School of Medicine has an opening for a full-time Board Certified/Board Eligible Genetic Counselor. This faculty position (at the Clinical Instructor rank) will be based in the Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. You will join a team of 5 Genetic Counselors, 1 Maternal-Fetal Medicine/Geneticist, 13 MFM specialists and 6 MFM fellows. Your charge will be to provide comprehensive reproductive genetic counseling services, and to be a clinical liaison with the UNC McLendon Clinical Laboratory for maternal serum screening. Current practice locations include the N.C. Women's Hospital and UNC MFM at Vilcom (both in Chapel Hill), UNC Specialty Women's Center at Rex Hospital (in Raleigh) and Moore Regional Hospital (in Pinehurst). Position includes supervision/teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows, as well as students in the UNC-Greensboro and University of South Carolina Genetic Counseling Graduate Programs. Education Requirements: A Master's degree in Genetic Counseling is required.
Qualification and Experience: Must be a BC/BE Genetic Counselor, possess excellent interpersonal and written communication skills and have an interest in working in an academic setting with trainees. Must be comfortable and efficient working in a busy prenatal clinic setting. Salary will be commensurate with experience. Recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
