RESEARCH SPECIALIST A
Duties: Primary role is to assess extent of neurological damage in an In Vivo Model of central nervous system injury. Successful candidate will participate in animal studies involving behavioral assessment of swine, managing all animal surgical care, specialized husbandry needs, and behavior assessments, as well as manage detailed clinical records and biological sample databases.
Additional responsibilities will include assistance in swine surgery and experiments designed to study control of brain blood flow under physiologic and pathologic conditions such as traumatic brain injury and stroke, maintaining protocol books, overseeing equipment maintenance, supply inventory, and safety compliance in the lab.
Responsible for developing new experimental protocols, and working with collaborating laboratories to learn new methods, performing technically complex experiments, data acquisition and analysis, and maintains data records.
Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree and 0 to 1 year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Good organizational and communication skills, good work ethic, ability to work independently with attention to detail. Lab experience and animal handling required.
