Summary of Duties:
The Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine (ESFCOM) at Washington State University is embarking on the accreditation and development of a next generation medical school designed to train students to be physician leaders, who innovate, adapt and discover in an ever changing healthcare landscape. The School is now inviting applications for the position of Research Intern who will join the Biomedical Sciences team in leading the college into the future.
The Research Intern is responsible for: supervising, breeding, and caring of rodents. Working on research projects to study behavior of wild type and transgenic mice. Testing mice in behavioral paradigms such as: Object location memory, novel object recognition, and social preference. Troubleshoot and optimize new behavior tasks. Assist with tissue sample collection for analysis or for genotyping of all transgenic mouse lines. Assist with all general lab maintenance, organization, and cleaning. Guarantee compliance with Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) protocols.
A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study or equivalent related field experience performing professional-level work with scientific or clinical research protocols. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Experimental and analytical skills; understanding and knowledge of research theory; interviewing experience; excellent organizational and project management skills.
