The Claremont Colleges Services (TCCS) is the shared services organization for a highly regarded cluster of seven independent colleges known as The Claremont Colleges located in Southern California. Today, TCCS is a nationally recognized educational model for academic support, student support and institutional support services to meet the needs of 6,300 students and 2,300 faculty and staff. The Claremont Colleges Library, located at the heart of the seven campuses, is the preeminent academic resource for The Claremont Colleges. The CCL is active in the library profession at the regional, national, and international level through such organizations as Statewide California Electronic Library Consortium (SCELC), the Oberlin Group of Liberal Arts Colleges Libraries, the Digital Library Federation (DLF), the Coalition for Networked Information (CNI), the Council on Library and Information Resources (CLIR), the Greater Western Library Alliance (GWLA), and the International Federation of Library Associations (IFLA). Examples of our engagement include the CLIR Postdoctoral Fellow Program, the SCELC Shared Print Initiative, the Lever Press, and frequent contributions at CNI, DLF, and IFLA.
The Claremont Colleges Library is seeking an energetic, skilled, and experienced librarian to become its Digital Technologies Coordinator (DTC). The DTC will report to the Director of Digital Technologies and Library Systems and join the new Digital Management Team. Key opportunities include collaborating closely with faculty, students, and library colleagues to create new policies, procedures, and best practices for digital content development; evaluating the library's digital technology needs and projecting its future requirements; analyzing and comparing open source and vendor produced systems and furnishing recommendations for a Next Generation digital platform solution; overseeing digitization projects; and engaging in digital content creation, curation, preservation, and management.
Requirements include an MLIS from an ALA accredited program or equivalent combination of education and experience, and two years of experience in digital content development and technologies in an academic or research library.
