Reporting to the Educational Technology & Media Services Director, this position is responsible for the design, implementation, and upgrade of major AV systems on campus. Working with other members of the campus community, such as Athletics, Conference Services, and Facilities, the incumbent will design AV systems in new construction and major renovations that meet Holy Cross specifications and meet the needs of customers, including considerations of users with disabilities and applicable FCC regulations. They will also coordinate with and support other members of the Audio-Visual Services team and larger ITS department. The incumbent will manage relationships with vendors to ensure deadlines and final productspecifications are met. The individual will also provide support and training on such systems to the user community.

Major Areas of Responsibility:
  • 80% Design and implement major AV systems across campus. Provide support to end-users. Recommend maintenance cycles on these systems. With Facilities, Conference Services, Athletics and others, develop recommended plans for AV technology systems, with emphasis on standards. Support and enhance accessibility efforts and use of existing and emerging technologies that serve the needs of all learners, including students, faculty and staff with disabilities.
  • 10% will provide consultation services with coordination by the Ed Tech & Media Services Director; provide information to other departments in support of A-V projects and grants. Assist Purchasing with selection of A-V equipment and services for the HC Community. Consult with others in ITS.
  • 10% Support for Classroom AV group provide consultation and support to classroom AV manager.
  • Develop key partnerships with vendors to ensure best-priced quotes on hardware, software, and services.
  • Serve as the lead point of contact for the vendors that support the needs of this function, for prospective vendors, during the negotiation phase and ongoing with established vendors.
  • Be an essential conduit between ITS service providers, the college community, and our vendors to ensure requirements and needs are understood on both sides of the contracts.
  • Works closely with the ITS Vendor Coordinator on project contracts and purchase and implementation of equipment installation as applicable.
  • Communicates, interacts with and supports effective partnerships with peers, supervisors and staff. Working with faculty and staff who may not be comfortable with or have a deep understanding of the use of audio-visual equipment in a way that is familiar.
  • Manage resource conflicts, scheduling equipment so that a limited technology pool is effectively used.
  • Understands and can manage copyright issues.
  • Keeping current with new technologies in a rapidly changing environment. Demonstrates advanced proficiency by quickly adapting to new technology and easily acquiring new technical skills.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks and participating in professional societies.

    Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required. CTS-D or documented equivalent experience required. DMC-D, Beam, EAVA and/or ECS certification preferred. PMP certification a plus. Extensive experience in design, operations and maintenance of audio-visual equipment and multimedia technologies in an educational setting. Familiarity with current A-V standards, evolving technologies, and applicable laws and codes. Familiarity with the construction lifecycle. Dedication to liberal arts education. Ability to program Extron and Lutron systems required. Ability to lift 50 pounds, work in a seated, kneeling or standing position, climb ladders and stairs, discern colors, adjust focus of optical systems, and adjust audio systems required. The position entails moderate levels of exposure to dust and hot/cold environmental conditions.
