Student Services Paraprofessional/Professional
Nature of Work:
This position is responsible for recruiting and providing admissions counseling for applicants in the greater Atlanta region to Albany State University.
Represents the University to prospective students and their families.
Recruits students who meet admissions requirements to the University.
Collaborates with staff team members to promote recruitment and success of all students.
Participates in the recruitment, selection, and orientation of students.
Works with other college departments to support implementation of college recruitment and admission plans as well as to support institutional goals for retention, attrition, and student advancement.
Training and Experience:
JOB REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS: Bachelor's Degree; excellent skills needed in use of Microsoft Office Productivity suite (Office, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access); overall proficiency in the use of technology is required; excellent interpersonal relations and communication skills; ability to exercise courtesy, tact and sensitivity with team members and customers; exceptional phone skills; previous customer service experience; flexibility with schedule to work variable shifts during the week, week nights, and weekends; possess a learning orientation to changing technology impacting business processes such as personal computer and related software skills including word processing, spreadsheets, database, data query, and internet; high motivation with the ability to take initiative to solve complex problems; demonstrate good judgment; ability to assume responsibility and meet deadlines; creativity with the ability to pay close attention to detail, handle interruptions, balance multiple and varied tasks, and handle confidential information with discretion; ability to analyze and evaluate situations, processes and procedures to determine or recommend best business practices and recommend changes as needed.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION: knowledge of college policies and procedures; knowledge of computers and job-related software programs; knowledge of Albany State University admissions policies; skill in decision making and problem solving; skill in the provision of customer services to applicants and students; skill in oral and written communication.
Illustrative Examples of Work:
Conducts high school recruitment visits and attends college fairs throughout the greater Atlanta region.
Corresponds with high school counselors to plan recruitment visits.
Prepares and delivers admissions presentations at open houses, high school fairs, and in the classroom.
Assists and counsels students and parents with admissions information and the enrollment process.
Assists with special admissions events and programs such as open houses, orientations, registrations, etc.
Enters student information into the CRM or other tool/product used to manager and track student enrollment.
Takes incoming/outgoing calls on University issued mobile device, and answers emails and correspondence providing information and assistance related to the admissions process.
Makes calls to recruit and retain student applicants/self-initiated calling campaigns for your recruits.
Communicate with other members of the recruitment and admissions staff to coordinate decision making.
Follow-up on events and procedures.
Attends informational conferences and meeting.
During recruitment off-season, occasional duties will include assisting with processing, calling campaigns, etc.

The work is typically performed while intermittently sitting, standing or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts light to moderately heavy objects. The work is typically preformed in the field, home office in Atlanta region, and requires VERY frequent travel.
