Laboratory Research Technician

Provide technical assistance and support for laboratory research activities for Dept. of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. Research duties include animal maintenance, genotyping, treatment of animals with chemicals/pharmacological and biological agents (e.g. allergens/viruses), animal surgery, processing of animal and human tissues, routine analytical techniques involving protein, DNA and RNA. Perform cell culture, microscopy, general laboratory maintenance, data analysis, and document experimental procedures.
Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
Bachelor's degree in basic science with emphasis in either biochemistry, biology or animal science and one year related laboratory experience required. Analytical skills, effective communication skills, and ability to work independently required. Ability to work with animals and lift/move up to 40 lbs. on regular basis.
Experience with molecular cloning techniques, protein purification, and/or standard microbiology and virology highly desirable.
