Head Men's and Women's Squash Coach
Basic Functions: Organize and develop all aspects of the men's and women's squash program. Conduct daily operation of the squash program and the recruitment of student-athletes. Perform additional teaching or administrative assignments for the department as assigned.
Essential Job Functions: Lead, develop and manage the squash program. Ensure the safety and conduct of the team and comply with the university, CSA and US Squash Association regulations. Plan all aspects of the program; Manage team selections; Prepare teams for competition through practice and conditioning. Develop and apply team rules; Develop game strategies and line-ups, and effectively motivate and communicate with the student-athletes. Schedule practices and matches. Oversee budget management; Organize home and away matches and travel to away matches. Support the academic success of the athletes. Supervise student manager and work in collaboration with the equipment and support staff. Provide the Director of Club Sports with appropriate information for publication and press releases. Recruit talented and academically qualified student-athletes for both the men's and women's teams; identify and contact prospective students, arrange campus visits, develop printed recruiting materials, meet with prospective students who have self-selected an interest in squash in the college application process, and assist the Admissions Office with special events. Teach a course in the major (Health, Exercise, and Sports Studies) or activity courses in the Physical Education program. May be assigned additional duties to support the Athletic Department throughout the academic year. Participate actively in the university community, and serve on appropriate university and department committees. Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of coaching experience, certification(s) and education is required. Candidates must have a sound knowledge and successful experience in coaching squash; must have the ability to teach the game, and demonstrate the ability to work with individuals of diverse background and experiences; working knowledge of all US Squash Assoc. and CSA rules and regulations; The individual must have current certification in first aid, CPR and AED prior to coaching. The candidate must have a current and valid driver's license and must be insurable under Denison liability insurance policy.
Preferred Qualifications: 3 or more years of coaching (combination of college and experience as a pro at a private club is acceptable). Demonstrable experience working with individuals of diverse backgrounds and experiences. Demonstrate an understanding of and/or experience in a residential, liberal arts college environment.
