Degree and Area of Specialization:
Bachelor's degree is required, master's degree preferred.
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
A minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of employer or corporate relations experience required. (7) or more years required for the senior level title. Preferred experiences include: talent acquisition and/or recruiting, former collegiate student-athlete and/or experience working in intercollegiate athletics and evaluation and data analysis. Successful candidates will demonstrate the following skills and abilities: exceptional organization and time management skills; the ability to work independently; demonstrate initiative and self-motivation; ability to understand and successfully attain project goals and initiatives; ability and initiative to work with a diverse group of individuals; and demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills. A basic knowledge of NCAA and Big Ten Conference eligibility rules is also desired. Candidates must be willing to work weekend and evening hours, as needed.
License or certificate:
Under the direction of the Director of Student-Athlete Development, the incumbent will be a member of the Office of Student-Athlete Development (OSAD) which provides programs and services for all UW-Madison student-athletes. The incumbent will be responsible for sustaining existing relationships and cultivating new relationships with employers and corporate partners in order to secure internship, part time and full time employment placements for student-athletes; tracking and analyzing internship, part time and full time student-athlete employment placement data; managing the UW Athletics "Handshake" interface; and act as a contributing member of UW Athletics' business development team, which includes senior level administrators. This position will identify the needs of prospective employers, research and stay updated on new potential employers/contacts, conduct regular site visits, cold calls/emails, attend employer events, and collect data on key employment metrics for the office.
Additionally, the individual will collaborate with key internal and external stakeholders for educational programming and engagement purposes including; shadow experiences, career nights, panels, and a career mentor program. Incumbent will engage regularly with UW alumni, donors, and letterwinners, and will communicate and collaborate regularly with OSAD staff to match student-athletes with meaningful career opportunities. The position responsibilities may include supervision of staff members; cultivation of corporate sponsorship packages and funding development specific to career initiatives and programs; assistance with the office strategic plan and annual report; oversight of employer relations budget development; engagement in athletic department and campus committees; and meeting with prospective student-athletes during on-campus recruiting visits.

This is a 100% Academic Staff appointment. Salary will be assigned within the appropriate range, commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience.
