Position:
The College of Education invites applications for a non-tenure track, 10-month Lecturer position in the Department of Instructional Leadership and Professional Development beginning August 2018.

The mission for Professional Education at Towson University:

To inspire, educate, and prepare educators as facilitators of active learning for diverse and inclusive communities of learners in environments that are technologically advanced.

Qualifications:

Master’s degree is required; a doctorate is preferred. Experience in a leadership role in a preK-12 school and/or central-office position is an asset.

Responsibilities:

Teach a four-course schedule of graduate courses per semester in instructional and educational leadership, advising and providing feedback to students in their pre-internship school-based activities, fulfilling a collegial role on faculty, and serving on university and college committees.

Committed to building equity and social justice in educational settings. Seeing an innovative practitioner who will leverage leadership skills and research-based practices to transform teaching and learning across all grade levels. The successful candidates will:

  • Demonstrate cultural competence and interpersonal skills that facilitate and support collaboration among diverse stakeholders, including those in the school setting, the university and the broader school community
  • Have experience in teacher development, instructional leadership, curriculum and instruction, evidence-based planning, and assessment of teaching and learning

ILPD faculty are expected to teach high quality and rigorous courses in a variety of locations (on-campus and in school settings in the metropolitan Baltimore area) and formats (face-to-face, on-line, and hybrid) in order to respond to the needs of Maryland educators.

The department, accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) and the Maryland State Department of Education, promotes a vision of professional responsibility through:

  • Commitment to the profession in developing the knowledge, skills, and dispositions essential to effective instructional leadership
  • Caring for the success of leaders by supporting educators who are prepared for diverse communities in a technological and global setting
  • Collaboration with families, communities, and organizations devoted to life-long learning
