The Department of Environmental Sciences at the University of Virginia (UVA) seeks a Research Associate(s) to contribute to computational research on marine biogeochemistry along the western Antarctic Peninsula associated with the NSF Palmer Long Term Ecological Research (LTER) project. The research associates will work directly with Scott Doney in the Department of Environmental Sciences.
The candidates must have experience with data analysis and visualization. Candidates need strong knowledge of marine biogeochemistry and Antarctic marine ecosystems; prior experience with the Palmer LTER data set is preferred. Strong skills in verbal and written communication of scientific results, ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a member of interdisciplinary teams, and ability to organize, prioritize, and coordinate multiple tasks are required skills.
Appointment is for one year with possibility of a renewal for one additional year, contingent upon satisfactory performance and funding. The completion of a Ph.D. in oceanography or related field is required by appointment start date.
