Posting Summary:
The Department of Astronomy at the University of Virginia invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate.
The work will involve the development of an advanced beam mapping system for low frequency radio telescopes based on satellite and UAV signal sources. Experience with radio transmitters, receivers, and antennas together with software defined radio technology is required. Experience with radio polarimetric systems and associated data analysis is preferred. Applicants must have excellent communication skills, and an interest in working with students and public outreach.
The completion of a Ph.D. degree in astronomy or a related field by the start date of the appointment is required. Candidates with a strong interest in observational radio astronomy or scientific instrument development will be preferred.
This position is initially a one-year appointment, with renewal for an additional year, contingent upon satisfactory performance and funding.
