Post-Doctoral Research Associate in Medical Anthropology

The University of Virginia Department of Anthropology invites applications for a one-year Post-Doctoral Research Associate position in Medical Anthropology. The successful candidate will have a broad knowledge of anthropology and an ongoing program of research and publication in medical anthropology that integrates intensive ethnographic study with the advancement of anthropological theory. The candidate will be responsible for conducting their own research and for teaching two courses broadly related to medical anthropology in the Fall 2018 semester, and one course related to medical anthropology in spring 2019. The candidate will also have an opportunity to interact with an active interdisciplinary community of researchers in medical anthropology, disease history, mental health, bioethics, and global health. Region of specialization is open.

Applicants must be on track to receive a Ph.D. in Anthropology or a related field by May 2018 and must hold a Ph.D. by June 15, 2018. The anticipated start date for the position is August 25, 2018 and will end May 24, 2019. Pay is competitive, and benefits are included.
