General Summary: The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a Student Researcher Position in the Department of Biology as part of the Faculty-Undergraduate Summer Engagement Program (FUSE). The student will be assigned to a research project that will require filming field interviews, organizing and maintaining of data, and analyzing and disseminating data through conference presentations, publications, and reports. A student enrolled in the College of Education with a science, technology, engineering, or mathematics content specialty area is preferred. Must be available to work for the duration of the FUSE grant period: May 14 to June 29, 2018 (7 weeks).

Job Duties & Responsibilities: The FUSE Student Reasearcher will:

  • Assist with academic research including filming interviews.
  • Assist with the editing and preparations of manuscripts.
  • Meet regularly with supervisor to discuss research assignments and attends project meeting.
  • Perform research work in education through interviews.
  • Gather and analyze data using Excel and SPSS.
  • Organize, maintain, and update data management system.
  • Prepare reports and presentations.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Must have ability to work independently on assigned tasks
  • Ability to conduct interviews in a professional manner consistent with UNG and IRB policies
  • Efective written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working collaboratively and as part of a team

Certifications/Licenses & Minimum Requirements:
  • Current UNG student who will not graduate prior to December 2018. Student should be enrolled in a 4-year program in the College of Education at UNG. Science, technology, engineering, or mathematics content specialties are preferred.
  • Junior-level student enrolled in the College of Education preferred.
  • A working knowledge of Excel is required. Experience in data management, SPSS, and/or Nvivo is preferred.
  • Travel is required.
