General Summary: The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a Student Researcher Position in the English Department as a part of the Faculty-Undergraduate Summer Engagement Program (FUSE.) The student in this position would be a collaborative researcher on a literary studies project facilitated by an English Department faculty member. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative team player who is able to perform literary analysis and use MLA format. Must be available to work for the duration of the FUSE grant period: May 14 to June 29, 2018 (7 weeks).

Job Duties & Responsibilities: The FUSE Student Researcher will:

  • Analyze a literary text
  • Conduct Library research
  • Apply literary theory
  • Draft an essay
  • Apply feedback from reviewers on essay draft
  • Select an academic journal for essay submission
  • Submit essay to an academic journal


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft word


Certifications/Licenses & Minimum Requirements:
  • Currently enrolled UNG student; won't graduate prior to Dec 2018; must have completed an ENGL 2000 level course; English major preferred
  • Some knowledge of UNG library system and how to retrieve hard copy and digital scholarly works
