General Summary of Responsibilities: The Langdale College of Business Administration seeks qualified applicants for an Economics Lecturer position in the Department of Economics and Finance. The position is a full-time, non-tenure earning faculty position beginning August 1, 2018. All Valdosta State University faculty share the responsibility of teaching courses at multiple levels as needed in their respective disciplines. To carry out our comprehensive mission, we seek faculty with the desire and ability to successfully engage students as they launch or continue their intellectual journey. The Langdale College of Business Administration programs are accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) placing the Langdale College among the top 5% of business colleges worldwide. We offer a challenging curriculum and essential real-life learning experiences that prepare our students for a dynamic business environment. Responsibilities include teaching a total of up to 10 courses per academic year at the undergraduate level and providing service to the College, University, profession, and regional business community. Candidates qualified as a Scholarly Academic by AACSB standards by time of appointment may receive two courses releases per academic year. Undergraduate primary teaching areas are macroeconomics, microeconomics, and international economics. Required Qualifications: Required qualifications include a master's degree in economics from an AACSB-accredited institution of higher education. Candidates should provide a record of or potential for scholarly activity and a record of effective teaching using a variety of methods. Preference will be given to those with a Ph.D. in economics from an AACSB-accredited institution of higher education, demonstrated classroom experience, ability to interact successfully with the larger business community in the area, and potential for providing leadership in program development.
