PREP Postdoctoral Associate Position at NIST
The Professional Research Experience Program (PREP) is a special partnership between the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and CU Boulder. PREP provides research opportunities to CU undergraduate and graduate students, as well as researchers with a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in NIST labs to gain research experience alongside NIST scientists.
We are looking for a technical writer to assist in the creation of 3GPP technical specifications. As a technical writer within PSCR, you will work on leading edge technology concepts to create specifications that the entire public safety mobile device industry will follow. You will collaborate with industry-leading companies from around the world in order to help create technical specifications. The end result will be to help first responders communicate better, and thus, help save lives. There may also be opportunities to work with PSCR researchers outside the realm of technical standards. This position is located on site in Boulder, Colorado.
- Exceptional writing, editing, formatting, collaboration, and communication skills
- Technical background in the fields of electrical engineering, communications, computer science, computer engineering, or software engineering
- Experience collaborating with engineers and subject matter experts
- Understanding technical requirements and how to transform them into written test cases
- Knowledge of LTE is a plus
What you will do:
- Research technical requirements from the 3GPP in regards to Release 14 Mission Critical Services (MCS). MCS consists of Mission Critical Push To Talk (MCPTT), Mission Critical Video (MCVideo), and Mission Critical Data (MCData).
- Present findings to research staff of PSCR and other interested parties.
- Write test cases and related material based upon the researched requirements for inclusion in 3GPP specifications.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to edit own test cases and related material as well as from other authors.
