RESEARCH SPECIALIST A
Duties: Mouse Colony Maintenance: Tattooing and identifying mice with specific genetic mutations (genotyping). Collect tail biopsies, complete DNA Extraction, perform PCR and gel electrophoresis and operate basic imaging software. Laboratory Maintenance: Autoclaving, laboratory supplies organization/inventory, standard reagent preparation, ordering and maintenance of a database for replenishment of laboratory supplies.
Cellular immunology/basic microscopy: Basics of aseptic technique, light microscopy, cell culture responsibilities including maintenance of cryopreserved cell lines and stocks. Maintenance of parasite helminth life cycles, which includes - fecal egg count, adult intestinal worm counts, and mouse inoculation. Basic molecular biology techniques including but not limited to: cloning, transformation, transfection, southern blotting, nucleic acid extraction, eDNA generation, and quantitative PCR. Basic biochemistry techniques including: ELISA, SOS-PAGE, western blotting, and immunoprecipitation. Histological staining techniques and immunohistochemistry.
Qualifications: Master's degree preferred. Bachelor's degree in the basic sciences, 0 -1 year of directly related research experience, and basic knowledge of biochemistry, molecular biology, and immunology or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Experience with basic data entry software, WORD, EXCEL, Image J, Flow jo, and Graphpad Prism.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Experience with website design and basic coding experience.
