Bachelor's Degree required



Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

One or more years' experience in Windows systems administration. Must be able to work independently and serve as the technical lead and manager of UWSC's computing infrastructure while also being open to collaboration with a variety of UWSC staff. Some end user support required. An interest in and respect for data security and privacy issues is a must. Experience programming using the LAMP or MEAN stack is a plus.

1. 12 virtualized Windows Servers, 100 Windows workstations, 50 Windows laptops
2. Extensive Active Directory configuration and use
3. BigFix, Qualys, McAfee Endpoint Encryption, Cisco AMP, Symantec Anti-Virus, Spirion / Identity Finder
4. Lansweeper, Macrium Reflect, Tivoli Storage Manager (Bucky Backup)
5. IIS, Shibboleth, Node.js
6. Applications developed using Visual Basic, MS Access, CASES, LAMP and MEAN stack tools

Position Summary:

The University of Wisconsin Survey Center (UWSC) is a nationally-renowned social science data collection department within the UW-Madison College of Letters and Science. UWSC completes dozens of research projects each year, producing first-rate social science data that is used by academics and policy makers throughout the world. The successful applicant for this position will play a key role in the continued success of UWSC, managing the existing Windows infrastructure and collaborating with UWSC IT and research staff to provide technical solutions as research needs require, including the possibility of contributing to the development of UWSC's custom, web-based data collection tool suite.

The UWSC IT group consists of seven professionals who together serve the IT needs of the department and its clients. The group values diversity, comradery, innovation, and flexibility, and takes pride in the high quality work it consistently delivers. These same values drive all other UWSC groups as well.
